About Oktoberfest It all started with a trip to Germany....
In the 1960s, Milwaukee’s mayor, Henry Maier, boarded a plane to Germany with a big idea. He wanted to see Munich’s world-famous Oktoberfest firsthand—the beer, the music, the joy that brought millions together every fall.
What he found wasn’t just a festival. It was a celebration of community—a gathering where strangers became friends at long wooden tables, where families shared meals, and where music and laughter filled the air.
Mayor Maier came home inspired. He dreamed of creating a space in Milwaukee where our city could celebrate its heritage and gather in the same spirit of Bavarian joy. That dream became Henry Maier Festival Park—the Summerfest grounds where we still celebrate today.
This October, we’re honoring his vision with Milwaukee Oktoberfest. Join us October 3–5 for three days of German beer, brats, music, and memories—right where it all began.

The 80th Annual Sister Bay Fall Fest is scheduled for October 16–18, 2026, in Sister Bay, WI, featuring a parade, live music, a large Arts & Crafts Fair, and the signature Ping Pong Ball Drop. Known as the "Granddaddy" of Door County festivals, it offers a weekend of family fun, including a carnival and derby race.
What began as a forgotten manuscript in a basement became a story that transcends borders and generations.
Patrick Dewane’s grandfather, Lt. Col. Matt Konop, led the unit that liberated Southwestern Czechoslovakia in 1945—unaware that he was stepping into the very region his ancestors had emigrated from. Speaking the native Czech dialect, he was hailed by the townspeople as a liberator “from among us.” Today, his name appears on a monument in the Czech Republic, and his image hangs on plaques both abroad and in his hometown of Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
Patrick transformed this remarkable legacy into a one-man multimedia performance that has captivated audiences across the U.S. and Europe.

Nestled along Fowler Lake, the German Christmas Market of Oconomowoc brings Old World charm to our hometown. Copper Box performs Friday evening @ 6:30pm, The German Market thanks you for your $3.00 donation for entrance to the Wintergarten. These dollars help with the entertainment and heating costs.

Based in Oshkosh, Copper Box started in 2002 with co-founders Danny Jerabek & Michelle LL (Jerabek). Among its recent awards, the group won 2026 Americana/Roots Rock Artist of the Year, 2025 Album of the Year and Folk Rock Band of the Year, and 2024 Artist of the Year from the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI).
