Copper Box Long Biography:
Revel in the Musical Magic of Copper Box: Where Timeless Tunes Transcend!
Copper Box, a celebrated musical ensemble originating from the heart of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is primed to take you on a melodious journey like no other!
Their music pays homage to the classics while infusing it with their own innovative touch. The result? A captivating symphony that traverses the rich tapestry of folk, polka, rock, blues, and jazz, all delivered with an unmistakable contemporary flair.
The name 'Copper Box' isn't just a moniker; It symbolizes the electric energy that courses through their performances, just as copper conducts electricity. Their music flows seamlessly from the 'box' (an accordion, to be precise), and it becomes an evocative tale that dances between the stage and the hearts of the audience.
At the core of Copper Box's musical odyssey is the immensely talented Danny Jerabek, a self-taught virtuoso on the button box accordion. His musical journey began at a tender age, inspired by family and accordion legends of the past and present. At age 9, Danny was given a Hohner Accordion from his grandfather and taught himself how to play it, among several other instruments (cornet, keys, harmonica, clarinet, sousaphone…& the kitchen sink!) During his early 20’s, Danny was inspired by Steve (Esteban) Jordan, “the Jimi Hendrix of Tejano Accordion” he began to “rock out” and improvise –thinking a little more, “outside the box.”
Danny was featured at the International Accordion Festivals as well as national TV and received several nominations and awards for Wisconsin’s “Specialty Instrumentalist of the Year” by WAMI, and is currently endorsed by Hohner Accordions.
And then there’s Michelle LL, with her captivating vocals and artistry of the sax and guitar, she adds an unmistakable depth to the group's sound. Michelle LL started singing with her grandfather’s band at age 10 and shortly after that picked up the saxophone, as well as other instruments (guitar, flute, etc.). She was awarded WAMI’s “Reed Player of the Year in 2017”, and nominated again in 2020, 2022 & 2023 and was named WI Polka Hall of Fame’s first woman to be named, “Side Person of the Year.”
Both Danny and Michelle LL come from a heritage steeped in Wisconsin's family polka bands, lending their music a unique cultural depth. Their shared journey is more than just musical; it's a life beautifully harmonized together while raising a family—a story that's as melodic as their tunes.
After many years of performing together, they are incredibly happy to have their musician friend, Dan Cable, driving the backbeat on the drums and percussion for the last 9 years (nominated for a WAMI award “Percussionist of the Year 2020 & 2023," as well as Danny’s younger brother and accomplished bassist, David Jerabek, back on bass and vocal harmonies. All four musicians have dedicated their life’s work to music and have put countless hours on the road and in the studio working on their craft.

As one music journalist commented, "(Copper Box)...as refreshing as a cool spring breeze blowing new life into a stuffy room...worth checking out!"
Wisconsin Blues Society describes Copper Box as “…one of the favorites of the Fox Valley Blues Festival 2004. This hot Zydeco Swamp/Blues Rock outfit with a great baritone and tenor sax gal and a hot accordion man. This group cooks and swings with some of the best Zydeco-influenced groups I’ve seen anywhere in the country.”
