Copper Box
Unique - Musical - Engaging -Fun!
Copper Box, a meaning that derived from copper (being a great conductor of energy) and a box, (in this case a button box/accordion) transferring energy from the stage to the audience with their multi-instrumental talent, unique arrangements, songwriting, and unforgettable stage show that is never faked, has put Copper Box in the hearts of many….not to mention that they are just plain fun!! With Copper Box, playing music is filled with sweat, tears and joy….and it shows every time they make music. This is not a cookie-cutter band! Copper Box is a one-of-a-kind band that delivers something special and is definitely worth a listen.
Multi-instrumentalist, Danny Jerabek and his wife, Michelle L (Thull) Jerabek, both started performing on stage with their respective family at an early age. At age 9, Danny was given a Hohner Accordion from his grandfather and taught himself how to play it, among several other instruments (cornet, keys, harmonica, clarinet, sousaphone…& the kitchen sink!) During his early 20’s, Danny was inspired by Steve (Esteban) Jordan, “the Jimi Hendrix of Tejano Accordion” he began to “rock out” and improvise –thinking a little more, “outside the box.”
Danny was featured at the International Accordion Festivals as well as national TV and was nominated several times and awarded Wisconsin’s “Specialty Instrumentalist of the Year” 2 years in a row by WAMI, and is currently endorsed by Hohner Accordions.
Michelle L started singing with her grandfather’s band at age 10 and shortly after that picked up the saxophone, as well as other instruments (guitar, flute, etc.). She was awarded WAMI’s “Reed Player of the Year in 2017”, and nominated again in 2020 and WI Polka Hall of Fame’s first woman to be named, “Side Person of the Year.” Also nominated for a WAMI award (“Percussionist of the Year 2020”) is their current drummer, Dan Cable aka D.C. Vegas.
Currently, Danny and Michelle use different talented family and friends on bass & drums/percussion, adding to the finishing touches to the good vibes of the “Copper Box sound.”
Copper Box has shared main stage festivals nationwide with artist such as: The Doobie Brothers, The Mavericks, The Little River Band, Buckwheat Zydeco, Little Feat, Little Big Town, Peter Frampton, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lou Gramm, Marcia Ball, C.J. Chenier, Spin Doctors, Brave Combo, Terrance Simien, W.C. Clark, Los Lonely Boys, Robbie Krueger from The Doors and Huey Lewis.

REVIEWS:
As one music journalist commented, "(Copper Box)...as refreshing as a cool spring breeze blowing new life into a stuffy room...worth checking out!"
Wisconsin Blues Society describes Copper Box as “…one of the favorites of the Fox Valley Blues Festival 2004. This hot Zydeco Swamp/Blues Rock outfit with a great baritone and tenor sax gal and a hot accordion man. This group cooks and swings with some of the best Zydeco-influenced groups I’ve seen anywhere in the country.”
The latest release is Wooden Heart (available on download only) and this band has a release in 2020 coming soon!
